School Uniform
School uniform helps a child to identify with the school and to feel part of the school community. Children are expected to wear school uniform because:
- Children can be identified more easily on school visits
- Parents are not pressured to buy the latest fashions for school
- Children feel part of a team and the wider school community
- school uniform is cheaper than fashion clothing.

Additional Information
Hair (boys or girls) should always be away from the face during learning and PE. This should be tied back with a school coloured band or hair clip. Extreme hairstyles are not permitted. Nail varnish and jewellery, other than small stud/sleeper earrings are not allowed. The school does not accept responsibility for children wearing jewellery to school. Rings, bracelets, necklaces or fashion earrings may not be worn to school. If children are having their ears pierced could you make sure they have them pierced at the beginning of the six weeks summer holiday.
Health and Safety
For reasons of Health and Safety a requirement has been set by the Local Authority that a child cannot take part in any PE activity wearing jewellery of any kind. Earrings must be removed by the child prior to the PE lesson. Years 3 go swimming during the year; earrings must be removed for swimming.
We would request that Infant children do not wear earrings to school on PE days. The class teacher will inform parents of the PE days specific to your child and these will also be on the timetable in the homework diary.
